Supervisor Haupt and Supervisor Harris

The Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors is pleased to announce the annual transition of leadership within the Board. For 2026, Supervisor Ray Haupt, District 5, will serve as Chair of the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors, and Supervisor Jess W. Harris, District 1, will serve as Vice Chair.

Visible Smoke

On January 7, 2026, visible smoke may be present in the area due to the scheduled burning of brush piles at the Oberlin Transfer Station.

Please do not be alarmed, this is a planned burn.

Oberlin Transfer Station

Siskiyou County is pleased to announce that credit and debit card payments are now accepted at the Black Butte (Mount Shasta) and Oberlin (Yreka) Transfer Stations.

Card payments are accepted with signature only and may be made using:

  • Discover
  • American Express

Processing Fee Information

All card transactions include a processing fee of 2.25%, with a $2.00 minimum fee per transaction.

Whaleback Pack Wolf

As many in the community are aware, recent wolf sightings have been reported near Little Shasta, reflecting a broader trend of increasing wolf activity throughout Siskiyou County.

Siskiyou County is a rural, wilderness-surrounded region, and residents have long lived alongside wildlife. While this familiarity is part of daily life, it does not lessen the importance of awareness or preparedness. As wolf populations range closer to homes, trails, and working lands, encounters must be taken seriously.

Lake Siskiyou Delta Bridge Removal image

As part of our seasonal operations, the temporary Lake Siskiyou delta bridges have been removed for the winter months. These bridges provide an important crossing over the delta section of the Lake Siskiyou Trail; however, because they sit in an active waterway, they must be taken out before winter weather arrives to ensure safety and protect the structures.

This work is a coordinated effort between CAL FIRE Siskiyou Unit Deadwood Crew and Siskiyou County Flood Control, who handle both the installation and removal of the bridges.

Copco Rd Update_September 2025

The Siskiyou County Public Works Department is pleased to share an update on the ongoing Copco Road Repaving Project. In a major show of coordination and teamwork, crews from all six road districts, the Bridge Department, and the County warehouse staff joined forces to begin surface improvement work along the corridor.

Yreka, CA – On July 1, 2025, the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously (5–0) to proclaim a local state of emergency in response to the escalating threat posed by the illegal use of highly toxic pesticides associated with illicit cannabis cultivation and processing operations.
