Siskiyou County Clerk Laura Bynum is seeking interested volunteers to serve as Election Observers for the June 2, 2026 Statewide Primary Election. The purpose of the Siskiyou County Election Observer Program is to provide an avenue of public observation of and input into the election process. Although being a volunteer observer does involve a time commitment, it is an educational, informative and rewarding experience and supports Mrs. Bynum’s primary responsibility of insuring the integrity and openness of the election process.
The County is pleased to announce that the Lake Shastina dock has been repaired and is now back in service.
The dock is once again open for public use, restoring important access for both residents and visitors. The completion of this work comes just in time for the warmer weather, when recreation at Lake Shastina begins to increase.
County crews appreciate the community’s patience and understanding while repairs were underway.
The Siskiyou County Tax Collector is reminding property owners that the second installment of the 2025–2026 secured property taxes is due by Friday, April 10, 2026.
Payments not received by this deadline will become delinquent and subject to a 10% penalty, plus a $20.00 cost per parcel, in accordance with state law.

The Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors officially recognized March as National Social Work Month at its March 17, 2026 meeting, honoring the dedicated professionals who serve individuals, children, and families throughout Siskiyou County.
The Board adopted a proclamation acknowledging the important role social workers play in supporting the well-being of the community. Through their work, social workers help individuals and families navigate difficult circumstances, connect with critical services, and work toward greater stability, safety, and healing.
Siskiyou County residents are invited to participate in an upcoming series of public engagement workshops as part of the Siskiyou County Evacuation and Preparedness Plan.
Thanks to this winter’s unusually mild weather, the Siskiyou County Public Works Department has been able to begin certain elements of work on Copco Rd. earlier than originally anticipated.
Building on the progress made last fall, when crews from all six road districts completed leveling courses and critical pothole repairs, the favorable weather conditions have allowed the team to shift into early underground preparation ahead of the spring construction season.
As many in the community are aware, recent wolf sightings have been reported near Little Shasta, reflecting a broader trend of increasing wolf activity throughout Siskiyou County.
Siskiyou County is a rural, wilderness-surrounded region, and residents have long lived alongside wildlife. While this familiarity is part of daily life, it does not lessen the importance of awareness or preparedness. As wolf populations range closer to homes, trails, and working lands, encounters must be taken seriously.
