Concealed Carry Weapon Permits (CCW)

New Applicants / Initial

  • Please note that CCW fingerprinting must be done at the Sheriff's Office and cannot be conducted by outside entities.

Before calling to make a fingerprint appointment, please have the following completed:

  • Initial CCW packet
  • 3 letters of recommendation from friends you have known for 5 years or more.
  • You must take the CCW initial 16-hour course and have your certificate and qualification form completed. List of approved instructors is available as attachments below. 

Fingerprint appointments for new applicants are by appointment only. The Sheriff's Office offers appointments on Tuesdays; please call 530-842-8315 or email ccwadmin@siskiyousheriff.org to check availability.

Renewals

Before scheduling a renewal appointment, please complete the following steps:

  • Fill out the initial / renewal packet.
  • Complete the CCW 8-hour renewal course and obtain your certificate and qualification form. List of approved instructors are in attachments below
  • Please submit the packet to the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office at 305 Butte Street, Yreka, CA 96097. Allow at least 10 business days for processing.

New Applicants *OUT OF STATE* / Initial Application

Before calling to make a fingerprint appointment, please have the following completed

1. Eligibility

To qualify, you must:

  • Be a legal resident of a U.S. state or territory outside of California
  • Be legally permitted to own, purchase, and possess a firearm capable of being concealed on your person
  • Be a current member of at least one of the following organizations at the time of application:
    • California Rifle & Pistol Association, Incorporated (CRPA)
    • Gun Owners of America, Inc.
    • Gun Owners of California, Inc.
    • The Second Amendment Foundation

2. Required Documentation

You must submit all of the following documents together with your initial application

  • A valid, unexpired state-issued driver’s license or identification card
  • Completed BOF 4013 Supplemental Form
  • Proof of current membership in one of the approved organizations listed above
  • Completed Firearm Inspection, Shooting Proficiency, and Training Course Completion Form
    • Proof of completion of the 16-hour Initial CCW Training Course, including: Training Certificate and Qualification form
  • Your current home address must be on file with your local law enforcement agency
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation from individuals who have personally known you for five (5) years or more

3. Scheduling CCW Appointments

Fingerprinting for new applicants is available by appointment only.
Appointments are held on Tuesdays at the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office.

CCW Permit Denial & Hearing Request Process

Under California Senate Bill 2 (SB2) and Penal Code § 26202, individuals who are denied a CCW permit have the right to request a hearing to contest the decision. If you wish to pursue this option, you must submit a "Request for Hearing of a Disqualified Person Determination" form within 30 days of receiving your denial notice.

Once submitted, the court will schedule a hearing where you can present evidence supporting your eligibility.
