Burn Day Information

Starting June 15, 2026, Residential Burn Permits are suspended by Cal Fire.

• Residential burning is suspended by Cal Fire until further notice.
• Agricultural and Non-Agricultural burning is still allowed only with the proper burn permit and fire official authorization prior to ignition.
• Contact the municipalities listed under City Residential Burning Information below for their residential burning restrictions.

County Residential Burning:

• The Air Pollution Control District (APCD) does not issue burn permits for residential burning.
• Cal Fire does require permits for agricultural and non-agricultural burning during the fire season. Local fire departments and municipalities may also require permits seasonally or year-round. 

City Residential Burning Information:

Before you burn check with your local Fire Official or City Hall for residential burning restrictions. The following cities require residential burn permits year-round:  Dorris, Etna, Ft Jones, McCloud, Montague, Mt Shasta, Weed, Yreka.

Residential burning is prohibited in:  Lake Shastina and Tulelake.
