Environmental Health to Transition to Public Health Effective July 1
Beginning July 1, 2026, Siskiyou County Environmental Health Department will officially transition from the Community Development Department to the Public Health Division.
For the public, there will be no impact to how services are accessed or provided.
Environmental Health will continue performing the same work, offering the same services, and serving the community from its current location.
Residents, businesses, and permit holders can expect:
- No changes to Environmental Health services
- No changes to the physical office location
- No changes to public access or customer service
- Continued support from Environmental Health staff
Environmental Health plays an important role in protecting public health through programs and services related to food safety, water quality, wastewater systems, solid waste, vector control, and other environmental health responsibilities. These programs and duties will continue without interruption.
The transition aligns Environmental Health more closely with other public health-related programs and services while maintaining the same level of service and accessibility the community relies on.
If you have any questions regarding this transition or Environmental Health services, please contact Environmental Health at (530) 842-8200.
The transition will become effective July 1, 2026.
