Board of Supervisors Appoints Hailey Lang as Director of Community Development
The Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors has appointed Hailey Lang to serve as Director of Community Development for Siskiyou County.
Lang brings 10 years of experience in local government planning, with a background that includes both land use planning and regional transportation planning. She has worked with multiple jurisdictions and regional agencies, including experience supporting Local Transportation Commissions and Metropolitan Planning Organizations.
From 2016 to 2018, Lang served as a Transportation Planner for the Carson City Public Works Department, where she also supported the Carson City Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) and the Carson Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO). In this role, she provided transportation planning services at both the local level and through the region’s MPO framework.
From 2018 to 2019, she worked as a Planner for the Mono County Community Development Department, where she supported both land use and transportation planning efforts and served as staff planner for the Local Transportation Commission.
Lang later served as a Senior Planner for the San Joaquin Council of Governments (SJCOG) from 2019 to 2021, focusing exclusively on regional and MPO transportation planning. She joined Siskiyou County in 2021, serving as Planning Director for the Siskiyou County Community Development Department through 2025.
“I am honored to step into the role of Director of Community Development and grateful for the opportunity to continue serving Siskiyou County,” said Lang. “I look forward to building on the department’s strong foundation, supporting our communities and development needs, and continuing the important work of planning for a safe, well-managed, and sustainable future for Siskiyou County.”
In her role as Director, Lang will oversee the wide range of services provided through the Community Development Department, including planning (current, long-range, and regional) and zoning services, building services, environmental health services, code enforcement functions, environmental review and permitting processes, and providing services that support residents, businesses, and community growth.
Lang succeeds Rick Dean, who retired after 32 years of dedicated service to Siskiyou County. The County extends its sincere appreciation to Dean for his leadership, knowledge, and longstanding commitment to public service and the communities of Siskiyou County.
