Emergency Closures

Fire and Weather-Related Road Closures

Public Works does not maintain this page on weekends or holidays.  If there is an emergency event that requires evacuations, associated road closures will be updated on the Evacuation Map found on the Current Evacuation page.

Butler Fire - Road updates as of July 30th, 2025

Sawyers Bar Road - Scheduled Closures

Due to recent downgrades in evacuation zones, Sawyers Bar Road will now be open to the public during the following hours:

Open to the Public:

10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

9:00 PM - 5:00 AM

Closed to the Public:

5:00 AM – 10:00 AM

5:00 PM - 9:00 PM

These restricted hours on Sawyers Bar Road are in place to allow fire personnel to safely conduct operations. During closed hours, the road is heavily used by engines, crews, equipment, and emergency responders.

Important Reminder:

If you choose to travel on Sawyers Bar Road during open hours, you are entering an active fire zone. There is ongoing fire activity in the area, and hazards still exist—including:

- Fire equipment and personnel on the roadway

- Unstable slopes and falling debris

- Limited visibility and changing conditions

Please drive slowly, stay alert, and give right-of-way to emergency vehicles at all times. Use extreme caution and avoid unnecessary travel through the area.

Salmon River Road - OPEN - Please anticipate increased fire related traffic and drive with caution within the burn scar.
