Lorenzo Castro Recognized with Siskiyou County Peak of Excellence Award

The County of Siskiyou is proud to recognize Lorenzo Castro, Solid Waste Manager, as the Quarter 2, 2026 recipient of the Peak of Excellence Award, an honor given to employees who demonstrate outstanding commitment, accountability, collaboration, positivity, and adaptability.

Lorenzo was selected for his commitment, accountability, adaptability, and hands-on approach to serving the County and our communities. In his role overseeing the County’s transfer stations, Lorenzo works to ensure daily operations remain safe, clean, efficient, and responsive to the needs of the public.

Lorenzo also played an instrumental role in the County’s successful transition to operating the transfer stations. His extensive knowledge and practical experience helped guide the County through a complex transition, minimize service disruptions, support staff as they adapted to new processes, and maintain uninterrupted service to the community.

Known for leading by example, Lorenzo is always willing to step in wherever needed. Whether assisting during busy weekends, working alongside his team to solve operational issues, adjusting schedules, or personally covering sites during staffing shortages, his commitment to his team and the public is evident in his everyday work.

On August 4, 2026, the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors unanimously recognized Lorenzo as the Quarter 2 recipient of the Peak of Excellence Award in appreciation of his outstanding contributions and dedication to excellence.
