CalWORKs - Welfare-to-Work Program
All CalWORKs recipients who are able to work will be required to participate in the CalWORKs Welfare-to-Work Program. To remain eligible for CalWORKs, “work-ready” recipients must participate in work or work-related activities, specified in an individual "Welfare-to-Work plan" that is developed with each individual. For adults, there is a 24-month limit on eligibility for Welfare-to-Work services (certain rules apply).
This program prepares individuals for the working world and offers the following services:
- Program Orientation and Appraisal
 - Family Stabilization Services
 - Adult Basic Education/GED Assessment
 - Behavioral Health Services
 - Unpaid Work Experience
 - Community Service
 - English as a Second Language (ESL)
 - Job Development Services
 - Job Search Services
 - Job Skills Training
 - Pregnant and Parenting Teen Services through the Cal-Learn Program
 - Supportive Services (child care, transportation, clothing, etc.)
 - Vocational Assessment
 - Vocational Training
 - Other services as necessary for employment
