Siskiyou County Recognizes Rick Dean for Over 30 Years of Public Service

As part of the County’s formal retirement recognition program honoring employees with 20 or more years of service, the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors recognized Rick Dean, Director of Community Development, at its January 6, 2026 meeting.

Rick Dean has concluded a career spanning more than three decades of public service, devoting 32 years to Siskiyou County. He began in Environmental Health and advanced through a broad range of roles, ultimately serving in a key leadership position overseeing Community Development.

Throughout his tenure, Mr. Dean was known for his thoughtful problem-solving, practical leadership, and commitment to the public good. Among his many contributions was the cultivation of a strong, mission-driven workplace culture and a lasting focus on serving County residents with integrity.

He also played a vital role during emergency operations, including the McKinney Fire reconnaissance, where he demonstrated composure, coordination, and dedication under pressure.

His words of advice for current and future staff? “Maintain the high road, work to dissolve SELF, make common sense common, and remember who you work for—the residents of Siskiyou County.”

The Board of Supervisors expressed its gratitude for Mr. Dean’s decades of leadership, offering best wishes for his well-earned retirement and future pursuits!
