Board of Supervisors Announces Annual Chair and Vice Chair Transition
The Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors is pleased to announce the annual transition of leadership within the Board. For 2026, Supervisor Ray Haupt, District 5, will serve as Chair of the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors, and Supervisor Jess W. Harris, District 1, will serve as Vice Chair.
Each year, the Board of Supervisors transitions a Chair and Vice Chair from among its members to guide the Board’s work. This leadership rotation ensures shared responsibility and representation across the County’s districts.
Chair Haupt brings decades of expertise in forest and natural resources to the role. A resident of Etna, Chair Haupt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources Management and Forestry from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and a certificate in Logging/Transportation Engineering and Economics from Humboldt State University. After a long federal career, culminating as District Ranger on the Klamath National Forest, he has continued his commitment to Siskiyou County through service on local advisory boards and as an instructor in forest science.
Vice Chair Jess W. Harris is a lifelong resident of Siskiyou County with deep roots in the region’s outdoor community. A graduate of Yreka High School, Supervisor Harris has worked in public works and served as Northern California Programs Representative for the California Rifle and Pistol Association. He is also a licensed instructor in firearms and hunter education and is actively engaged in small business and agricultural life with his family in the county.
The Board of Supervisors expresses appreciation for the leadership of the outgoing Chairwoman Ogren and looks forward to a productive year under the guidance of Chair Haupt and Vice Chair Harris. This transition reflects the Board’s ongoing commitment to collaborative governance and responsive representation for all residents of Siskiyou County.
