Lake Siskiyou Delta Bridges Removed for Winter Season
As part of our seasonal operations, the temporary Lake Siskiyou delta bridges have been removed for the winter months. These bridges provide an important crossing over the delta section of the Lake Siskiyou Trail; however, because they sit in an active waterway, they must be taken out before winter weather arrives to ensure safety and protect the structures.
This work is a coordinated effort between CAL FIRE Siskiyou Unit Deadwood Crew and Siskiyou County Flood Control, who handle both the installation and removal of the bridges.
Because bridge placement is directly influenced by snowmelt, early storms, and river levels, the bridges are not installed or removed on a fixed calendar schedule. Instead, they are placed and taken out when conditions make it safe and appropriate to do so.
We appreciate the public’s understanding as we prepare for winter and work to protect Lake Siskiyou, the trail system, and the bridge infrastructure. Trail users are encouraged to plan accordingly, as the delta crossing will not be available again until conditions allow for safe reinstallation.
