Press Release - September 14 Election Updates

PRESS RELEASE

August 26, 2021

The September 14, 2021 Gubernatorial Recall Election is fast approaching and Siskiyou County Clerk Laura Bynum encourages all eligible voters to participate in this election.  The deadline to register is August 30th

With the pandemic, all registered voters were mailed a vote by mail ballot for the September 14th Election.  Ballots entered the mail system the week of August 16the and Mrs. Bynum encourages voters to vote the ballot that is mailed to them and return the ballot by one of the many return options available.

Vote by mail ballots can be returned to the County Clerk’s Office via the USPS (postage paid envelope will be provided with the ballot), the 24-hour drop box located outside at 311 Fourth Street, Yreka, the County Clerk’s Office, 311 Fourth Street, Room 201, Yreka, or to any polling place on Election Day.

If a voter needs to utilize the polls on Election Day, they are encouraged to take the vote by mail ballot they receive in the mail to the polls to surrender on Election Day.  This will save time for the voter and the poll workers from not having to contact the County Clerk’s Office to “suspend” the vote by mail ballot.  If the voter does not have the vote by mail ballot to surrender, poll workers must contact the Clerk’s Office to have the vote by mail ballot “suspended”.  If the poll workers are not able to contact the Clerk’s Office due to high call volumes, voters without a vote by mail ballot to surrender will need to vote a provisional ballot.

The Siskiyou County Clerk’s Office is located at 311 Fourth Street, Room 201, Yreka; and is open Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; telephone (530) 842-8084.
